Medal Design Program

What is the Medal Design Program?

The Canada Games Medal Design program is an initiative taken by the Canada Games Council that allows each Host Society the opportunity to design the medals that will presented to athletes during the Games.

Canada Games Council Hosting Standards:

#16 - M - 02
The Host Society must incorporate as an integral element of its organization of the Games the required protocol for medal presentations.

#16 - G - 03
The Host Society must work with the Canada Games Council’s national partner in the design and production of the medals and ribbons based on the technical program and medal table provided by Canada Games Council. Neither the medal nor the ribbon may be commercialized by any organization not approved by the Canada Games Council.

Objectives for Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games Medal Program:

  • Create excitement and notoriety for the Games, as well as a sense of inclusion.
  • Connect with community stakeholders to design a medal that aligns with the Games core values. Having a chance to design the medal that will be awarded at the Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games will create a sense of involvement within the community.
