General Description:

To aide in the promotion of and generate excitement for the Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games, we are looking for volunteers to assist in planning, preparing and participating in a fairly robust parade schedule between June 2020 and July 2021.

Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games staff will ensure that all entry forms (and payment, if applicable) are submitted, and work with the Parade Committee to determine a theme for the float.  Parade Committee volunteers will plan all logistics associated with having our float arrive and depart from each parade site; schedule participants; and potentially participate in some of the parades.

Parade Committee Volunteers will represent the Mission, Vision, and Pillars of the Niagara 2021 Canada Summer Games at all times.  The theme of the float will also be derived from our Mission, Vision, Pillars.  Let’s Inspire, Transform and Unify Niagara!

A tentative parade schedule may include the following parades and is subject to change:

Overall responsibilities and tasks will also be assigned at the first meeting with next steps and action plans identified.

Time Commitment:

  • 2020 - Two planning and logistics meetings in each of April, May, June, early September, and October with parade execution as outlined above.
  • Some independent work may be required in addition to scheduled meetings.
  • 2021 meeting dates to be established in February 2021.
  • Evening, weekend and weekday availability for committee meetings and various parade dates.

Timing for parade dates is likely a five to six hour time block to include arrival at parade marshalling area, waiting for parade start, the parade, returning items after parade to appointed area.

Parade Committee Volunteers will be required to complete a waiver and those 18 years of age and older will agree to have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) facilitated on their behalf by Niagara 2021 staff or provide a favourable copy of their own, date stamped no earlier than September 2019.
